Every abandoned place has a story.
When you are near Lake Mead, check out the Railroad Tunnel trail between Mead and Hoover Dam.
HI!I ran across your website when I was trying to look the Boulder City Pet Cemetery up. Do you, by any chance, have the coordinates of its location? We tried to drive over there last night but we couldn't find it. I know one website said to look for a white animal stile on the right after going north on US95S. I hope you could give me a little more information on its location. Would really appreciate it! Thank you! And thank you for sharing your experiences on here. I, too, love visiting abandoned places, though I've only been to a few. If you ever find yourself in New York, try to visit the Seaview Hospital in Staten Island if you haven't yet. It is amazing. :)
Seaview Hospital looks awesome. Thanks for the suggestion! If you ever want to check out one of the places I've visited, see the map on the "Places I've Been" Page. If you zoom in, you should be able to pinpoint the location. The exact coordinates to Boulder City Pet Cemetery are 35.91455, -114.91763 . I hope you have better luck finding it next time. It's a pretty interesting place.
Why didn't I think of that? Haha! Thank you so much!!!
Hey, I have a map similiar to yours- is there a way I can share it with you? I'm also on tumblr as KnightyG.
Just stumbled upon your site today, it's super cool! I live in Ottawa, il. Looking forward to an updated map from your latest posts. I've got a 2wk road trip to Colorado mid November and would love to add a stop or two along the way to break up the drive! I can't wait to check your older posted
Thank you! Road trips are my favorite way to travel. I recommend taking rural highways at least part of the way, so you can stop to check out places you wouldn't have noticed from the freeway. I hope you have an awesome time!
Yes, I see that - I never really thought about how impactful shifting traffic patterns can be on small towns.
As the comments before this, I also just happen to run across your project on visiting the past.. Sent time reading and looking at your pictures. I enjoyed them all. Thanks for posting your project. Job well done and very interesting..
Thank you so much, Arthur! :)
Thank you for the hours of happy browsing of places I've been and never been! I don't see DV Junction on your itinerary, but the borax dorms and Marta Becket's "Opera House" are really worth seeing. Ever since Marta died, the place has gotten more coverage than usual in travel articles, etc, but it's hard to be believe there are many more visitors than the few times I went. A monument to willfulness, creativity, and eccentricity at war with inevitable collapse and decay.
Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying the website. And thanks for letting me know about DV Junction. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before. I'll definitely have to check it out.
